Kevin and I decided to take a camping trip to Priest Lake in Idaho. Trisha came to visit for the week so we figured it would be a great time to take a fun trip. Here are some pics from the fun filled event.
The lake from the beach the was right next to our campground. We played in the water as much as we could.
This is Granite falls which is a few miles north of our campsite. We were told canada wasn't too much further up from us. We considered pretending to sneak in but we needed to get back to camp.
This is the Shoe Tree. Our camphost told us about it and we decided we needed to check it out. We didn't know anything about it except he said there were lots of shoes that had been placed in it and on it. We were unsure of why it was there as apparently many are. Many joke that Big Foot started it but no one knows the real meaning. We do now though. When we arrived at the tree we happened to get there at the very time the son and his wife of the man who placed the very first pair of shoes on the tree was visiting it. He was there with his grandson who was seeing it for the very first time.
As long as their story is true, which seemed very true, the man was 16 and after working a long hard summer in the area. He was getting ready to head home and had decided that his boots weren't worth taking home and decided to nail them to the tree. The boots are no longer visible because the tree has grown around them. So the amazing mystery is no more than a 16 year old boy randomly nailing his boots to the tree because he didn't want them anymore. The man is now 83 years old.
